As your osteopath in Milan, I will always strive to make you feel as comfortable as possible, even when your condition requires treatment on sensitive and painful areas.
Unfortunately, some conditions can be painful and may be triggered during movement, stretching, or treatment. There are certain techniques that might cause slight discomfort or pain for a short period.
In the exceptional case that soreness or pain persists or significantly increases, feel free to contact me to express your concerns. Your well-being is my priority.
There are several common reasons why individuals may seek the services of an osteopath. The initial osteopathic consultation is valuable for determining whether the presented issue has musculoskeletal, visceral, and/or craniosacral origins or influences. In such cases, osteopathy, with its various manual approaches in the musculoskeletal, visceral, and craniosacral domains, can contribute to improving various conditions, including:
- Back pain and neck pain
- Leg pain
- Postural issues
- Sports-related strain or injuries
- Tension headaches
- Constipation
- Dysmenorrhea (menstrual pain)
- Bruxism
- Myotensive origin tinnitus
- Lymphatic drainage
- Carpal tunnel syndrome and other peripheral entrapments
- Joint pain
These are just a few examples, and osteopathic care can be beneficial for a wide range of musculoskeletal and functional issues.
Starting from the premise that each person and presented condition is unique, osteopathic treatment, if deemed appropriate, will undoubtedly vary in terms of frequency and intensity from person to person. Therefore, it is crucial to schedule an initial appointment to thoroughly understand the path to embark on together, starting from the first osteopathic session.
In general terms, however, it can be said that osteopathic treatment always combines manual therapy, which includes massages, stretching, repeated movements, mobilization, and/or manipulation, with home exercises and movement advice.
Furthermore, if the treatment of the condition requires manual therapy on a painful or delicate/sensitive area, the osteopath will guide you through the approach, outlining a completely personalized path for you.
It is not necessary to have a medical prescription to book an initial osteopathy session, so you can schedule an appointment directly with the osteopath.
Please note that a medical prescription or consultation from your primary care physician may be required for certain specific cases or in particular psychophysical circumstances.
During the first osteopathy session in Milan, I will inquire about the reason for the consultation and related symptoms. This initial introductory discussion will also include your medical history, medications taken, or other factors that may not appear directly associated with your situation.
For more information contact me.
The first visit can last between 35 – 60 minutes. This allows me, as an osteopath, to gather information about your medical history, assess you, and, depending on the condition, provide treatment.
Subsequent appointments may be shorter, typically around 45 minutes.
The cost of the first visit is € 80.
Electronic payments via POS are accepted.
If you have already undergone diagnostic tests (X-rays, ultrasounds, MRIs, etc.), it is advisable and required to bring them with you to the first visit. If you haven’t had any tests done, during the first visit, we will assess together whether it is appropriate to consult your primary care physician first.
It’s important that you feel comfortable. You can wear shorts and a t-shirt. You can always discuss directly with me, before the appointment, if there’s a need to remove any clothing for the execution of the treatment or for a specific technique.
As mentioned in the previous FAQ, for a proper visit to the osteopath, it is crucial that each patient wears suitable clothing that facilitates observation and evaluation by the specialist.
As an osteopath, it is in my interest to ensure that every patient feels comfortable, even in cases where it may be necessary to remain in underwear to work on a specific region of the body.
It is recommended to wear appropriate and reasonable underwear to be comfortable. In case it is necessary to remove a shirt or shorts, a blanket or towel will be provided to cover the area during the treatment.
Always focused on your comfort, in my studio, you are welcome to have someone accompany you and be present during the first visit and/or treatment.
In the case of a minor undergoing treatment, the presence of a parent or legal guardian is mandatory throughout the entire session. For further information, feel free to seek clarification when scheduling your appointment.
During this period, the studio’s capacity is limited, so it is recommended to be punctual. Please arrive on time as agreed upon to avoid overlaps with other patients.
According to the law, every patient must provide written consent before starting a treatment, so you will be asked to sign an informed consent form.
Additionally, an osteopath needs to document your medical history in writing to assist in assessing your condition and to evaluate various therapeutic options together. That’s why it might be necessary to fill out a questionnaire, for example, to establish a pain or function score. In some cases, you may also be asked to provide your address and other personal information.
The number of osteopathy sessions in Milan at my studio depends on your condition.
Conditions that have been present for a long time or are chronic may require more clinical management compared to acute or recent conditions. Generally, you might notice some changes around the third session.
Based on your condition or highlighted concerns, as your osteopath, I may request further evaluations or refer you to another healthcare professional, such as your primary care physician, a specialist, or a physiotherapist.
For subsequent treatments, depending on your individual condition, I may need additional diagnostic tests, such as an X-ray or MRI.
For any additional information, feel free to contact me.
It is important to always communicate any changes in your medical condition or health information. This includes any new conditions, injuries, dysfunction, or changes in medication.
